Essay 2-02b: My language learning experiences

I’m going to tell you about my language learning experiences. I have learned languages are three languages, Japanese, English and German. I have learned Japanese since I was elementary school student. So I have learned English since I was junior high school student. And I started studying English when I was a junior high school student. Also, I had learned Germany when I entered at this university. So I choose language is German. German is my choice. In university, I could choose one language from German, Spanish, French and Russian.

First, I learned Japanese when I was elementary school. I remember I often studied Hiragana, katakana and Kanji. So I felt so difficult for me. But I learned to write Kanji every day. To remember them, I wrote them down again and again a notebook. I learned a lot of things, for example how to read and how to write and so on. So I first learned classic when I was junior high school. I dislike classic very much. Because I don’t read classic sentence and it is completely different from modern style. But I like to learn Hyakuninissyu. I like the most a poem is “Coarse the rush-mat roof Sheltering the harvest-hut Of the autumn rice-field; And my sleeves are growing wet With the moisture dripping through”. (Emperor Tenchi) Do you know this a poem?

Next, I first learned English when I was junior high school student. It was first foreign language for me, so I was very looking forward to study English. But I remember I could not understand English. In junior high school student, I dislike English. But I entered high school; I was a little like English. So I took in part English recitation contest. I practiced right pronunciation, intonation and expression every day. I like to learn English from this here. I want to learn more English.

Third, I first learned German in this university. Why do I select German? I heard my high school teacher and my mother that German is easier than Spanish, French and Russian. And I think so that German grammar is similar to English grammar. So I elected. But I don’t understand German. It is very difficult for me. There are many rules. For example, accent, word form and intonation and so on. Especially, word form was the most difficult rule for me. I really dislike it. So I read a textbook in German every class. So German has male and female noun and change word forms. I didn't know what these nouns were and the word forms. I remember I got confused trying to make sense of the textbook. German teaches by Mr. Yagi. He is always smirking. So he is good to use a cassette tape. So I want to study more German and go to there. I thought English is easier than German. Also, I don't want to learn Spanish. Because I heard Spanish is so difficult and teacher is worst. But I want to go on trip to Spanish. And I heard French is difficult from friends. Especially, "R" pronounce is very difficult in French. But I want to go there. There is historic country and go to Louvre Museum.

As you can see, I have learned three languages. They tell a lot of many important things for me. So I want to learn more languages. Especially, I must improve my English skills.
